Matthew Morrison Interview About The Glee Kids GraduatingSunday, April 03, 2011
BAD news for all you Gleeks: the hit US camp-fest will lose its most popular characters as they depart to launch solo pop careers.
I was lucky enough to have lunch with Mr Schuester, aka Matthew Morrison, this week ahead of the release of his solo album.
But while curly tots is allowed to record his own material outside of McKinley High, his pupils Finn,Rachel, Kurt and co are all banned.
Matthew told me: “I had a bit more pull when entering the show so I was put on a different contract.
“That’s why I don’t have to do the Glee Tour. The others can’t record a solo album until they leave, whereas I can.”
Hinting that the E4 show is up for a cast change Matthew continued: “Glee does have a shelf life but they are trying to introduce new characters. I think they are bringing in new people so they can slowly lose some of the originals without it being noticed too much. We will see if it works, that was the big question over the show.”
But Mr Schuester’s hordes of fans don’t need to worry too much.
The mash-up king said: “Mr Schuester certainly isn’t going anywhere for a while. He’s there to stay.”
After lunch Matthew let me pat his surprisingly soft curly mop, which was a career highlight.
Asking the award winning Broadway star if he wanted to go into musical theatre...not so much!
