Will Darren Criss Really Succeed at Replacing Daniel Radcliffe?Sunday, July 31, 2011
It was a couple of weeks ago that a report claimed Darren Criss was in talks to replace Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
However, neither the Glee star nor anyone involved with the show has confirmed the news.
So is it happening?
It sure is. I just got word that the official announcement will come tomorrow. It was only a week ago that Criss remained coy on the subject. "I don't know!" he told TVGuide.com. "People keep asking me about it, and it's kind of cool that that's out there in the world, but I cannot confirm anything at all."
How to Succeed will mark Criss' Broadway debut. His three-week run will kick off on Jan. 3, according to Deadline.
Sadly, Criss won't be eligible for a Tony Award for his work because he did not originate the role in this version of the show. Not to mention that the Tonys already snubbed Radcliffe by not even nominating him. For those keep track of more successful How to Succeed stars, Matthew Broderick won for his performance in 1995 as did Robert Morse in 1962.
