When Glee Met Chewbacca: Scoop on the Wookie's Presence

Can Wookiees sing? Perhaps we'll find out, when Chewbacca appears on an upcoming episode of Glee. Well, okay, we don't expect to hear good ol' Chewie belting out any tunes (though may we recommend the "Life Day" song?), but you really and truly will see the famous Star Wars character on the FOX series.

Several Glee cast members had tweeted mysterious photos taken with Chewbacca a few weeks ago, and AOL TV spoke to cast member Harry Shum Jr. ("Mike Chang") and got the info. Revealed Shum, "[Chewbacca] makes an appearance into Artie's dream in a way. I can't really delve into the details, but it's something to do with Artie."

Shum said that having the legendary Star Wars character on set, "was incredibly awesome. It was a huge surprise."

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Glee star Matthew Morrison revealed that the episode, airing next week, is one in which they'll be doing a Christmas special, describing it as, "a throwback and a tribute to The Star Wars Holiday Special and the Judy Garland Christmas special." That's right: Glee is going to actually touch upon one of the more infamous parts of Star Wars history.
Morrison added, "We called up George Lucas and he gave us Chewbacca. There's only one guy who can officially be Chewbacca. We had Chewbacca for the day and it was just great and we were all taking pictures with him."
Glee: "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" airs Tuesday, December 13th at 8pm on FOX.
