Tuesdays will be a little less Glee-ful in late winter/early spring as Fox launches a new comedy block that includes the return of Breaking In.
The network confirmed Friday that Glee would air a “winter finale” on Feb. 21 and then take seven weeks off before returning on April 10 (at which point the show will air all originals through the end of the season).
And then beginning March 6, Fox will debut a new Tuesday lineup that kicks off with a relocated Raising Hope at 8, followed by I Hate My Teenage Daughter at 8:30, New Girl at 9 and the Season 2 launch of Breaking In at 9:30.
Will (Matthew Morrison) finally put a ring on it, but how long are we going to have to wait before we get a Glee wedding? Glee fans are not known for being patient, though one could argue that Will-Emma fans have been patient for two and a half seasons.
So because patience is not on our list of many virtues, we had a chat with Jayma Mays about the possibility of a Wemma wedding before this season is done, and the big moment that comes on the wedding night…
"I feel like it could come really soon," Mays says about her onscreen wedding to Morrison. "And then I feel like, 'oh, maybe they'll hold us out for another year,' but I'd like to see it happen this year."
And with a wedding comes a wedding night, which means Emma will finally(!!!) lose her virginity. "I'm really worried because you know that she's still a virgin, so the second that I found that out I was like, 'Oh no, what are they going to make me do on camera?' I'm going to start sweating from nerves just thinking about it right now, and I need to start doing sit-ups."
Um, we think you look just fine, Jayma. But if exercise gets rid of the nerves, have at it.
So we might have to wait until season four for those two to walk down the aisle, and the only reason that makes us nervous is Ryan Murphy might want to break up Wemma, just to keep the fans a'buzzin'.
"I hope [they stay together]. You never know if they're going to throw a spanner in the works, but to my knowledge things are going well with the two of them right now."
To hear from Jayma about Ricky Martin's episode and the possibility of Gwyneth Paltrow coming back, watch her complete interview.
Gleeks, here’s something you already know: Ricky Martin is hot like fire. You’ve probably already seen his performance of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” and he’s even steamier on next week’s episode of Glee, titled “The Spanish Teacher.” EW got an early peek at the episode, in which Martin plays David Martinez, a night school Spanish teacher who helps Will (Matthew Morrison) when a student complains about his teaching abilities. But that’s only one part of a pretty plot-packed hour of Glee.
Here are the highlights [MILD SPOILER ALERTS]
Will and Sue battle it out over getting tenure at McKinley
Sue announces that she wants to have a baby by artificial insemination (“With whose vagina?” is asked at least twice in the episode)
NeNe Leakes returns as Roz Washington and takes a stab at choreographing the Cheerios. She also has an EPIC verbal takedown with Sue. Example: “Start praying you give birth to a child who likes to eat sand because that’s all that’s coming out of those old wrinkly boobs.”
Everyone in the choir room swoons over Martin’s David… including, surprisingly, Artie.
Emma tells Mercedes and Sam to spend the week apart and think about their relationship to see if there’s something really there
Mercedes sings “Don’t Wanna Lose You” by Gloria Estefan and makes some serious eyes at Sam
Meanwhile, Sam and the boys do a mash-up of Gypsy Kings’ “Bamboleo” and Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero.” Sam definitely directs the latter song’s lyrics to Mercedes
Rachel tells Kurt and Mercedes about her engagement to Finn and they don’t exactly offer to throw her a bachelorette party
Finn and Kurt have a major talk about the engagement and their futures. Could Finn be rethinking his decision?
Santana and Ricky Martin’s David do a hot cover of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita”
Will does a less impressive version of Elvis’ “A Little Less Conversation” while dressed in a matador outfit (Brittany and Mike play the bulls)
Emma unveils a slew of new pamphlets, including one called “Taint Misbehavin’” that teaches athletes about proper hygiene
Will makes a major career decision that will affect his future at McKinley
Get ready for some serious bon-bon shakeage, people!
Ricky Martin hits Glee this Tuesday night on Fox, and I just got my grubby little hands on a screener of the episode. Come watch with Kristin, will you? I am liveblogging scoop from the episode as I watch it right now (posting updates as it unfolds). Here are the highlights you diehard fans need to know, and I'll also answer your burning questions...
Here we go!
OK, Matthew Morrison is wearing a goofy, enormous sombrero and singing "La Cucaracha," once again proving he is so not the cocky manwhore of yesterseason and markably more adorkable this year. Emma Pillsbury, I applaud you and your affect on this man!
Principal Figgins is reading Will the riot act, telling him he needs to at least learn Spanish if he is going to teach it, and if he wants tenure. There is one tenure spot open at the school now. So Will is heading to learn Spanish at a class helmed by...
A super Mystic-tanned John Stamos! Wait, no, that is an extremely good-looking Ricky Martin, and let's hope this ridiculously hot guest star keeps his paws off Emma. (BTW, I just saw John the other night and he said there are no plans for him to return to Glee...I know. You Will and Emma fans are heartbroken.)
And holy crap. Guess who just hit up a sperm bank?
From @dayecarter: While you're watching don't forget to play the worst drinking game ever - take a shot every time Brittany speaks.
Tequila shot in hand. So far I am totally sober.
Sue! Sue tells Will she totally wants to have a baby and froze her eggs in the '70s. I am concerned for the human race.
And ohhh wow. Sue wants Will's sperm.
Ricky Martin enters the choir room, to help with this week's assignment: To sing a song from someone of Latin descent.
Let the record show: Ricky Martin is hotter than ever. His performance of "I'm Sexy and I Know It" pretty much ensures an Emmy nomination. Gwyneth, take two. Might be the hottest number ever in that choir room, complete with Naya Rivera backside slap.
So far just them looking all hot and bothered as Ricky sings. Cute, though.
Mercedes doesn't know how she feels about Sam. She's torn between two lovers, and Sam and Mercedes seek Emma's help.
Nene Leakes is back and she's putting Sue in her place about this whole having-a-baby thang. Nene and Jane are pretty great together. More please.
Kurt, Mercedes and Rachel in bed watching Twilight and eating popcorn. Kind of adorable.
@Gleekchic87 any talk of NYADA or Finchel engagement yet?
Rachel shares her secret with the two, and there's an interesting Blaine/Kurt reference moment that makes it clear Kurt isn't ready for a step like Rachel and Finn are taking.
Chord Overstreet is surprisingly awesome singing Enrique Inglesias' "I Can Be Your Hero." He's got flavah!
Sweet Emma and Sue scene.
Kurt is confronting Finn about proposing to Rachel...
Fantastic scene with Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer in which Kurt tells Finn he can't give up on being more than the guy who holds Rachel's purse on the red carpet.
@ellemills2 tell me we have will and emma have an interaction in this episode!
Emma is trying to help Will and...wow. Will is being a serious d-bag. "You're being really mean," she tells him. Understatement.
I could watch Ricky Martin and Naya Rivera perform together for the rest of my life. They are doing "La Isla Bonita" amidst laser lights and it's on fiyah. Also, we take back everything we presumed about her "chemistry" with Grant Gustin in the Michael Jackson episode. Apparently Naya is so smokin', she makes magical baby eyes with everyone with whom she performs.
Will Schuester is dressed as a Spanish matador singing "A Little Less Conversation" and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be laughing out loud, but it's pretty hilarious.
Nicholas Michael: Anything on Quinn in this episode? Or is she a background character for now on?
She's in the background. Most of this episode is about Will, and a little Santana, Emma, Rachel, Finn, Mercedes and Sue. But Dianna Agron is defintely there and we know she's shooting til the end of this season (at least) despite her "sendoff" last episode.
Santana tears Will down, then builds him up again.
Will discovers in this episode that teaching Spanish is not his passion, and brings Ricky Martin into the fold at McKinley High. Here's hoping he discoveres a passion for How to Respect Your Woman next.
@KingsWater So sweet Britt-Britt doesn't talk at all again in this ep? :-(
Unless I missed it, no. But as Mike Schur just told me of The Office's Mose: A little Brit goes a long way, right? She has some great dance/comedy moments in this episode. And as you know, we'll be getting a lot of Brittany and Heather Morris in the Valentine's Day episode, as they are set to "make out".
@vrstovall So did the Kurt/Blaine reference mean trouble ahead for the two lovebirds? Also, is Blaine's surgery mentioned?
No, there is no trouble at all. Rachel is just pointing out to Kurt that he might have hesitations too if Blaine were to propose right now. Blaine isn't in this episode besides that reference, because Darren Criss was off doing How to Succeed on Broadway.
@Sadnesshere Does it sound like Klaine will break up then? Kurt doesn't think he and Blaine will last?
Not at all. Guys, there is nothing to be concerned about regarding Blaine and Kurt that I am aware of! Sorry to have concerned you. It's just a tiny little moment and ain't no thing but a chicken wing. Promise.
@Saranoh2009 Could you give us a clue about the Will/Emma moment at the end?
Fox asked us not to reveal what happens at the very end. It's nothing shocking or anythhing, but it is a very sweet Will and Emma moment that made me take all the pins out of the Will Schuester voodoo doll I crafted halfway through this episode.
Nicholas: This seems like a very funny episode, like the good old Glee. Does it feel like that?
Yes. Loving the Jane Lynch/Nene Leakes interaction (lots of funny Sue stuff) and there are some great comedic moments elsewhere, too. But it's also super sexy/caliente! Perhaps the sexiest episode so far this season. And heavy on the Will and Emma stuff, so fans who've been missing Jayma and Matthew this season will dig it. Also, the door is definitely left wide open for Ricky Martin to be back (repeatedly), and I'm all for that after seeing this episode.
Matthew Morrison in a sombrero. As disturbing as it sounds. #glee
Two minutes in…and hello Ricky Martin! Will takes spanish lessons from Ricky, whose character is named David Martinez. Swoon. #glee
OMG. David was previously the top tooth model in the country. Genius. Also, Ricky is really good. #glee
Oh dear. Sue is looking for a sperm donor! She wants to have a baby!
“The good people of Kroger have been keeping a box of my championship ova cooling in their meat locker.” Sue #glee
Sue and Will are battling it out for a tenure slot at McKinley #glee
YES! Nene is back as Roz and has a face-off with Sue! I think Nene is actually taller than Jane. #glee
New Directions song assignment is to do songs performed by someone Latin or from Latin-descent. Or bilingual artists. #glee
Ricky’s first visit to the choir room makes EVERYONE swoon…even Artie. And cue “Sexy and I Know It!” #glee
Mercedes and Sam go to see Emma for advice on how to handle their relationship. She gives them pamphlets that I won’t spoil. #glee
Roz ripping into Sue’s plan to get pregnant IS AN EPIC SPEECH. I’M LAUGHING OUT LOUD IN MY OFFICE. #glee
“Start praying you give birth to a child who likes to eat sand because that’s all that’s coming out of those old wrinkly boobs.” Roz #glee
Roz had a three-way with a certain gold medal swimmer. Yep. #glee
Rachel, Kurt, and Mercedes are Twi-hards and Mercedes relates to Bella having to choose between two guys. #glee
Rachel tells Kurt and Mercedes about her engagement and they have fairly surprising reactions…#glee
New Directions guys do a cover of Gypsy Kings’ “Bamboleo” with Sam on lead vocals. And they wear bolo ties! #glee
And it just turned into a mash-up with Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero!” Sam singing directly to Mercedes! #glee
Sue wants Will to father her child. Emma conveniently has a pamphlet that reads “Please Don’t Hog My Fiance’s Nog.” #glee
Major brother-to-brother chat between Finn and Kurt about the future. Could Finn be rethinking the proposal? #glee
Holy hotness. Ricky M. and Santana doing a duet of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita.” Complete with a light show! #glee
Will in a matador jacket. As awkward as it sounds. #glee
Will’s doing a bilingual version of Elvis’ “A Little Less Conversation” with Brittney and Mike dressed as bulls. #glee
Emma has a pamphlet called “Taint Misbehavin’.” I’ll let you all figure out what that involves. #glee
Looks like we may be seeing a lot more of Ricky M. on “Glee!” He’s great on the show. #glee
Glee Preview: 10 Spoilery Highlights From Next Week's 'The Spanish Teacher'
Glee is singing a new tune — and in a different language — on next Tuesday’s episode, and we’ve got a sneak peek at all the fiesta-tivities. See who’s under fire — and who’s simply en fuego — when Ricky Martin dances his way into McKinley High.
1. Mr. Schue’s teaching abilities are called into question, and Principal Figgins warns him that he won’t get the open tenure spot unless his Spanish skills get bueno…rapido!
2. Sue decides she wants to have a child — and turns to the New Directions guys (!) and Mr. Schue for sperm donations. Naturally, Emma responds to Sue going after her fiancé’s genetic material with…a pamphlet.
3. Will starts taking Spanish classes at night with Dave Martinez (Ricky Martin). Not only does Martin go on to deliver the swoon-worthy version of “Sexy and I Know It” that TVLine debuted on Thursday, but he also cooks up an electric duet with Santana.
4. Roz Washington (NeNe Leakes) returns to coach the Cheerios on a new routine, and deliver some solid burns to Sue in the process. (Both Roz and Santana’s reactions to Sue’s baby aspirations are “with whosevagina?”) But does the synchronized swimming coach have a larger agenda?
5.Sam and Mercedes go to non-couples counseling with Emma about their kiss. Her solution? Communication cut-off for a full week. But does communication count when it’s in the form of a musical performance?
6. Rachel spills her proposal news to Mercedes and Kurt, but neither of her buddies hops aboard Team ‘Put a Ring on It.’ In fact, look for a brotherly heart-to-heart about the engagement between Kurt and Finn — even if it means Kurt has to break a promise to Rachel in bringing up the subject.
7. Mr. Martinez might make you sweat, but Mr. Schue is certain to make you cringe — in a performance where he dresses as a bullfighter and gets backup support from Mike and Brittany.
8. In a double shocker, we find that two unlikely sources tattled on Will (for poor teaching skills) and Sue (for poor coaching performance). Will is shocked by the news, while we discover Sue had already snuck into Figgins’ filing cabinet to uncover the identity of her accuser.
9. Mercedes and Sam hit another wall in their path to romance — and it’s shaped a lot like Shane.
10. The episode ends with a shocker about [SPOILER] and the future of McKinley High.
