Those are the famous lyrics from the 1969 rock opera, "Tommy," sprung from the fertile minds, voices and musicianship of Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey and the late Keith Moon.
Now we hear that "Glee" producer Ryan Murphy plans a lavish remake of "Tommy" for the hit Fox show that has lost a little of its heat recently. The "Tommy" episode, if it happens, will no doubt run longer than the usual hour. It's hard to imagine something as epic as "Tommy," cut down.
Roger Daltrey, who can still look awfully good in skin-tight denim, and Pete Townsend are expected to make appearances.
P.S. Don't be disappointed if the "Glee" version of "Tommy" is not as lurid as Ken Russell's infamous, excessive 1975 big-screen effort. (That one featured Jack Nicholson, Tina Turner as "The Acid Queen," Elton John as "The Pinball Wizard," Mr. Daltrey as Tommy and Ann-Margret as his mother.)
Ann-Margret received an Oscar nomination for her efforts, not the least of which was being bathed in gallons of baked beans and liquefied chocolate. I don't see anybody on "Glee" going quite that far for their art.
Sorry, Mr. T. You can stop grooming your mohawk now, because the role of Puck’s father on Glee has finally been cast, and you didn’t get it. Who did?
TVLine is happy to exclusively report that Melrose Place vet Thomas Calabro will play the estranged father of Mark Salling‘s underachiever in this season’s 18th episode, which is slated to air in April.
Puck’s mom, as played by Gina Hecht, was introduced in the Season 1 episode “Mash-Up.”
Family reunions have been a major theme of Glee‘s third season, during which we’ve met the parents of Rachel, Mike, Sam and Emma. And when the show returns from its seven-week hiatus on April 10, Matt Bomer will debut as Blaine’s older brother, Cooper Anderson.
Question: I’m probably asking too much but could you maybe tell me if Shelby will back on Glee? She mysteriously disappeared and didn’t even show up to Finchel’s wedding, which was weird. —Anastasia
Ausiello: No sign of her for the foreseeable future, I’m afraid. Actually, scratch that — I’m not the least bit afraid. Good riddance, I say. I was never a fan of that character.
xoxo_tuna: anything Glee related to help us get through this hiatus?
Hm…how about that the Fox hit is currently looking to cast an imposing theatrical grande dame who would appear this season and next? Could this possibly have to do with Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel's (Lea Michele) post-McKinley high plans? Time will tell…
Kelsey: Got anything on Glee?
Could Quinn (Dianna Agron) be returning to her skanky punk-rock ways (aka: the look she had at the beginning of the season) Glee is searching for a big group of high school students that have a "punk," "goth," and "metal" look to them. Maybe Quinn's accident leads her to fall into the wrong crowd again? This is what happens when a show goes on hiatus for weeks and weeks: we speculate ourselves into a frenzy!
Fans of Samuel Larsen (Joe Hart) better get ready, because The Glee Project’s Lindsay Pearce tells Wetpaint Entertainment that her fellow finalist is about to hit the big time on Glee!
Samuel, who, like Lindsay, won a role on the hit Fox show after appearing on the reality audition show, hasn’t had much screen time yet. But Gleeks can look for that to change!
“I think things will pick up for him soon,” Lindsay revealed to Wetpaint Entertainment.“In the show, I think they’re going to start giving him this really big storyline. So it’s going to be cool.”
And Lindsay, who made a big splash on Glee last fall singing “Anything Goes,” hopes her character, Harmony, will make a comeback.
“I’m not allowed to say if anything’s happening or not, but it’s always a possibility. It’s always there in the air that I could be brought back,” she said.
In fact, when last we saw Harmony, it was clear she had plenty of time left in high school. “She gave us that little Easter egg of ‘I’m only a sophomore’,” smiled Lindsay, who spoke exclusively to Wetpaint Entertainment while promoting her upcoming Los Angeles stage musical, Spring Awakening. “I still see some of the cast. They were very nice to me.”
And she cheers on her former Glee Project buddies who have graduated to the big show, like Samuel and Damian McGinty (Rory).
“It’s interesting to see how much they’re growing on the set. I get why they’re not at the forefront of scenes yet because it is the senior year of the people that have been there for three years. Their storylines are so important.”
But according to Lindsay, her buddy Samuel won’t be in the background for much longer!
Dylan Baker, who co-starred in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" sequels, is set to make his directorial debut with "23 Blast," an indie drama that will star Mark Hapka ("Days of Our Lives") and Max Adler ("Glee"), as well as Justin Long, Stephen Lang and the helmer himself.
Toni Hoover and Bram Hoover wrote the script, which follows a high school football star (Hapka) who's suddenly stricken with irreversible blindness and the choice he's forced to make regarding whether he should return to the sport.
Adler will play another football player who's initially unsupportive of his teammate but eventually comes around.
Production is scheduled to start next month in Kentucky.
Adler, who will be seen alongside Liam Hemsworth in the indie "AWOL," is best known for his role as a closeted bully on the hit Fox series "Glee"
Paradigm reps Hapka and Baker, who is managed by Viking Entertainment. Adler is repped by Gersh and Brian Medavoy Management.
Still one of the most listenable songs in the entire Glee song canon, it's just a bonus that it features Rachel and Quinn singing about their own personal insecurities and the toxicity of the male gaze and how both of them think the other one is so, so gorgeous.
Prom Queen & Queen
If your boyfriend gets kicked out of prom, should you find out what the heck happened to him and make sure he's OK, or canoodle in the bathroom with the girl who got him kicked out and then return to prom as her date? That second thing if you're Rachel and Quinn.
The Blossom of Secret Love
Rachel: Girls like Quinn — you don’t want to do anything that’s going to distract from their face, so ask for a gardenia with a light green ribbon wrapped around it to match her eyes.
Quinn Draws Her Own Faberry Fan Art
Rachel: You don’t think people whisper about me in the lunch rooms or draw pornographic pictures of me on the bathroom walls?
Quinn: That was me, actually.
Pink Is The New Black
How many New Directions members has Quinn dated? How many New Directions members are her best friends? But when she was on the actual rails, it was Rachel who went calling after her. Well, Santana tried. But in the end, it was Rachel who got through. 'Cause true love gives you special ears for hearing.
"Kind Of" Friends
After being trapped in the worst storyline in history — which is saying something about a show that spent a full season on a FAKE BABY story — Rachel pulled Quinn free from her kidnapping schemes. They say they're "kind of" friends when it's all said and done. By which they mean: "Kind of friends, kind of way more."
Clearly the victim of a Confundus Charm, Rachel agrees to marry Finn. Only the spilled blood of her Soul's True Mate can break the evil curse, and so Quinn flings herself into traffic and prays to Sappho that her body will remain unbroken. Nah, I'm making that up. But Rachel would not get married without Quinn by her side. And Quinn never showed up by her side. So: Wedding Off! (Hopefully.)
